Hong Meiling (surname Hong) is a chinese youkai from Touhou Project who first appeared as the stage 3 boss of Embodiment of Scarlet Devil.
Character Biography[]
Meiling is the gatekeeper to the Scarlet Devil Mansion, though she isn't always proficient at it, often taking naps on the job due to her laid-back personality. She rarely ever shows any aggression towards humans, preferring to engage in friendly conversations with passersby and only taking hostile action as part of her guard duties against unauthorized trespassers. She is skilled in the usage of Qi and martial arts, but otherwise has no youkai-like abilities. While her lack of any particular strength and inability to utilize danmaku properly may not make her very strong compared to other youkai, this also leaves her as being a particularly well-rounded combatant with no weaknesses.
