Oshawott (Known as Mijumaru in Japan) is a Water-Type Pokémon from the titular Pokémon franchise, and is the first stage of the Samurott evolutionary line.

Character Background

Oshawott is recognized as Unova's regional Water-Type Starter Pokémon, a trait shared with other water-types such as Squirtle, Totodile, Mudkip, Piplup and Froakie. Oshawott are small, otter-like creatures who have a small shell on their chest known as a "Scalchop", which is made out of the same material as claws. They can detach this Scalchop and use it in combat like a sword, though it has been used for utility purposes, such as cracking open hardened berries. If their Scalchop is lost or broken, Oshawott are left defenseless until a new one grows from it's bellybutton.
